Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on base or you can live off base. If you live off base, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.

Grand Forks Air Force Base is home to the 319th Air Refueling Wing under the command of the Strategic Air Command. Many of the aircraft transferred from Beale Air Force Base including 40 new Block Global Hawks. The reassignment of the Global Hawks saves the base from closure although personnel levels will be significantly reduced as the base loses the tanker mission. The wing’s mission is primary bombardment duty in order to support combat efforts worldwide. There are more than 800 military family housing units on base and privatization of housing was started in 2009. Based on rank, on-post housing is assigned. Two to four bedroom units are available. If a soldier is single, dormitories will be assigned in Unaccompanied Airmen Housing. to receive a list of homes for rent or sale. Apartments are also available in the surrounding communities of Laramie and Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Located on base at Grand Forks are two elementary schools: Carl Ben Eielson School serves children from K-4 and Twining Middle School serves grades 5-8. The majority of children that live on base attend the East Grand Forks public schools. Special needs, gifted programs, and other counseling services are offered by the school district. Extracurricular activities include soccer, cross country, track, volleyball, track and field. Bus transportation is provided by the school district for those students who live on base and who attend high school in Grand Forks. The Air Force still operates the Perimeter Acquisition Radar (PAR) from Grand Forks under the command of the Air Force Space Command 10th Space Warning Squadron.
